How do you know if your inspector is qualified to inspect that new home?
Basically you don't. Ohio's new Home Inspector license does not include new construction inspections.
To be a home inspector you do not have to take any of the four tests required by OBBS for performing code inspections. Just a home inspector test.
A new construction inspection is a code inspection and don't let anyone else tell you different.
Only Inspector Mike had been trained on the first residential code adopted in 2006 and the new 2019 RCO.
Most new build inspections are just a scam to take your money.
Ask the inspector what standard he is using to inspect that home. If it is not an ICC standard, the one Ohio uses - tell him no thanks.
