In a surprise move the Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing has decided not to enforce Ohio's first Home Inspectors statute.
The Division controls the new OHIB (Ohio Home Inspector Board). The new board was not involved in this decision. It is unclear why this new statute is not being enforced.
The Division is also licensing individuals who did not meet the grandfathering provisions. This should be of concern to anyone who hires a Home Inspector.
So, Ohio now has licensed and unlicensed Home Inspectors. How can a real estate agent recommend an unlicensed home inspector? They can't.
